Life

Emily Hornsby lived in Simi Valley, CA until she was 13 years old with her Grandparents. Her loving Dad and playmate was always nearby. She had a rocky first 6 years of life, but was soon surrounded by safety, love, and happiness.

Emily's second passion in life is the stage. She's been an actress and singer since she first set foot on the professional stage at 8 years old. Ever since then, she performed constantly, whether with her schools or professionally; she loved taking a different kind of journey through theatre.

At age 13, Emily and her family moved to TX and stayed there through college where she majored in Theatre Performance with a minor in Japanese from Texas Christian University. She worked professionally in the theatre world through the last year of college with a company called Casa Manana where she earned her membership with the stage union, the Actor's Equity Association. After graduating from TCU and her contract with Casa Manana ended, she made the big move from home to New York City. She loved it there, a tough but wonderful city in which to live. It's the kind of place that gets in your blood. While in NY, she was cast in two tours, a reading, and an "off-off Broadway" production. However, one day she would wake up and realize that she needed to make a big move: The move that would awaken her dreams.

Travel

Her traveling began with road trips but soon would grow as she proved her worth as a traveler. She was blessed enough to have a Grandfather who would bring her with them on some of his business trips. At 10 years old, she went to Europe for the first time and mastered the tube (England's subway) system after which her Grandparents realized that she was a very good traveler for such a young girl and was rewarded with an invitation on the next trip. Today, one of her favorite things to do is travel with her Grandparents.

There hasn't been a year that Emily can recall in which she didn't travel somewhere. Traveling is such a burning passion in her and has always been a presence in her life. She wants to experience all there is: learn about different cultures, absorb centuries of history, try and learn the languages, and see the different landscapes. The world is such an amazing place and she wants to share her passion with as many people as she can. After her Grandparents retired, they continued their tradition of traveling whenever they could. Whether local or abroad, there was always something new to discover. Once she was old enough, Emily began branching out on her own. At 19, she studied abroad in Kobe, Japan for a month where she stayed with two wonderful host families. Then, she studied theatre for a month in London, England to complete her BFA. She is so grateful for those unique experiences and encourages anyone who has an interest in studying abroad to do it if given the opportunity.

In the fall of '05, after moving to New York City, she was fortunate enough to do the two things that she's passionate about for a living with a company called ArtsPower. She went on tour with a musical and drove from coast to coast and to all four corners of the United States. This experience enabled her to see so much of our amazing country. Most importantly, she learned that the small towns of the United States can be just as interesting as the big cities in their own way, especially if you go where the locals go, talk to them, and share a beer with them.

The Show

After college, she moved to New York City where she lived for 2 happy years before making a sudden decision to move back to California. Once settled in Los Angeles, she remembered just how much she had loved the versatile Golden State. In the midst of a personal funk, Emily realized that she didn't want to wait for someone to tell her she was good enough and she decided to create an opportunity for herself. Having always wanted to be a travel host, she decided to produce and create her own show. She would make her passions a reality and chase her dreams. And what better place to express her passion than in the state she grew up in? California is such a vast and unique place. One day you could be trekking the desert, the next sunning on the beach, or the next skiing in the mountains. There isn't another state where you can do and experience so much without ever leaving its borders. Emily wants you to feel her excitement as she experiences something new and hopes to encourage you to go out there and feel it and know it for yourself. Travel on!
